Marjhani has been belly dancing for 6 years and teaches out of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. She has taken the knowledge and skill she learned in this style of dance and has married it with her love of the Death Rock/Gothic/Industrial movement. Having been in the “scene” since she was 14 years old, Marjhani brings us the “real deal” in Gothic Dance. She also directs the exclusive dance tribe “Oojahm”of the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire every spring in LA and the Las Vegas Faire in October in a traditional style Bedouin re-enactment group. Let Marjhani “Deliver” you from the “norm” and take you into a world of dark beauty and charm.
Intro to Gothic Bellydance
The Gothic Sub-culture is one of mystery and intrigue. Learn to take this beautiful and dark style and incorporate it into your bellydancing repertoire. The movement of Gothic Fusion Bellydance is really becoming popular amongst the bellydance scene and can be seen at many large events. Videos have been made to portray this specific avenue of dance. In this workshop Marjhani will demonstrate how to exaggerate the arm and body movements to create a more dramatic and effective performance. Stage presence, make-up and costuming will be covered and broken down by sub-genre. A short choreography will be taught. This class is for most levels, some knowledge of dance vocabulary and movement is necessary.
POPS & LOCKS
In this workshop we will review the basic isolation exercises that create every move of the dance. Through proper technique and drills you will learn to use these movements to create the dramatic effects of a great pop & lock performance. This class will also focus on the importance of using pauses and stage presence and is designed for all skill levels.

Gypsy Fire of Bend, Oregon's best-known Tribal Style Bellydance troupe, has been mesmerizing audiences since 1999. American Tribal Style is a modern American fusion of traditional Middle Eastern dance movements which celebrates the beauty, strength and grace of the female form, and the community of women who practice it.
Gypsy Fire was formed in 1998 in Bend, Oregon, by director Quinn Donovan. Having studied since 1994 with FatChanceBellyDance (originators of ATS) in San Francisco, Quinn brought this style of dance to Central Oregon, and began Gypsy Fire. While our roots are firmly planted in the structure set out by Carolena Nericcio, and FCBD, we have begun to adopt movements of various dance stylings, and have adapted them to our troupe's dynamic, thus creating our unique "voice," much like the Gypsies (Rom) we honor in our name.
"Seamless Slow:”
Smooth Transitions and Formation Changes
The magic of ATS is improvisation. Creating a seamless performance that gives the impression of a choreographed piece is the result of clear, non-verbal communication among the dancers.
In this workshop, Gypsy Fire will help you learn some smooth transitions, cues and formation changes that can open the door to creative ATS improv!
We will warm up with some stretching, and then move into cues and transitions, helping students link basic ATS moves, along with a selection of Gypsy Fire's signature moves. After that, we'll start moving our formations, changing the lead. Here's where the magic happens!
